Consigning and Consignment Policy
RiverKidz consignments consist of two seasons;
Spring/Summer and Fall/ Winter. Consignments are accepted on a 90 day
basis. Spring and Summer items are accepted at the end of February thru
early May. Fall and Winter are accepted at the end of August thru early
October.
Only items that are in excellent condition are accepted. Nothing that is
stained, ripped, poorly made, markedly worn, out-of-season or out-dated will be
accepted. Clothing needs to be freshly laundered and free of musty
or stored odors. Please leave tags on any unworn items. Items of
clothing should be neatly folded, hangers are not necessary . Kindly check your
items before bringing them in to us.
Along with clothing, we also accept children’s linens and accessories. We
do accept some toys, primarily larger wooden toys, such as rocking horses and
Dollhouses, and never used toys in their original packaging. Feel free to
call us to discuss items that you wish to consign.
The shop also carries fine art and custom made items for children. We are
always interested in unique art work in this genre. Please feel free to
discuss art consignment with us. Policies for fine art consignment are separate
from the general merchandise consignment contract.
Large items, such as highchairs, cribs, exersaucers, etc., must be cleaned,
sanitized, and free of defects to be accepted for consignment. Please
include the manufacturer’s product booklet if available. Also, check to
make sure an item is not on any recall list. We cannot accept car seats
and bike safety helmets.
There may be items we will not accept for a variety of reasons,[overstocked,
brand, style or size] Please do not take it personally, we are just doing
our best for you and all our customers.
Kindly call for an appointment to bring items in to us. Please limit each
consignment to no more than 50 items. You are welcome to make multiple
appointments if you have an abundance of things to consign.
RiverKidz sets the price for all merchandise based on brand and condition [new
or gently-used]. Consignors receive 40% of the tag price of each of their
sold items. Please be aware that items usually sell for one fourth to one
third of their original price. New items with all original tags may sell
for one half of their tagged price.
Checks are issued 4 times a year to consignors at the end of each 90 day period.
A clearance sale takes place at the end of each season. January-February
and August-September. During the clearance sale consigners will receive
40% of the sale price.
At the end of the 90 day period consignors may pick up unsold items, if they
prefer not to donate the items to charity. It is the responsibility of the
consignor to pick up their items in a timely manner. Items left for more than
two weeks pass the end of a consignment period become the property of the store.
If donation is chosen the consignor will receive a receipt for tax purposes.
Please note these are not itemized receipts, they will be receipts from the
charity that receives the items. You will be able to itemize the receipt
from your list of sold and unsold items.
Please remember that consigning should be thought of as a yard sale you do not
have to run, and a fun way to add money to the piggy bank. A serendipity
that arrives every 90 days.
